As a 90's kid, I grew up watching Lizzie McGuire and lately I've been randomly rewatching some of the episodes on Disney Plus. A few months ago, I came across an episode wherein Lizzie excelled at rhythmic gymnastics - a completely random skill that she happened upon during a P.E. class. She finds herself conflicted wondering if it's something she wants to continue pursuing when observing her peers and their passions, while she doesn't have a clear direction of what sort of life she wants to lead. This episode was so wholesome to see how supportive her parents and close friends were in just allowing her to be and figure it out.
When I look at the movement of the silver in this piece, it reminded me of the ribbon Lizzie used in rhythmic gymnastics and how we are all flowing through life figuring it out. Here's to Lizzie and here's to all the 90's kids that may be reading this right now.
